A Call to Discipleship & Living Victoriously in today’s world (Part 2)

Discipleship victoriously

Hallelujah! Our fellowship has made tremendous progress the past two sundays. In short, we have experienced a life course on how to be “Lifestyle Christians”.

Building on the foundation text of the first sunday (Matthew 6:33 – “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”), the second sunday began with deep questions about: ‘

Who is able to defeat the world?

How  can anyone defeat the world?

Tested and trusted answers were found in 1 John 5:1-5

But another question arose, What is the nature of this victory we speak about?

A million US dollars? Nope!
A trophy wife? Nooooo!
An exhalted position of authority? Not even close!

For the Christian, it is Victory over Sin. And to live victoriously is to live a life that gives your spirit, soul, and body, peace, calm and quiet. God on the inside that shakes the world. To believe in the incredible so you can do the impossible.

Now to the nitty-gritty of victorious Christian living:

We must know God, love God and serve God

Know Him from His written word, call to Him in prayer (in the name of Jesus) and be sensitive to hear His voice so that we may obey.
Love God, above all fleshy desires and serve Him - serve Him by our actions (not just observation of though shall nots...)

Walk by faith not sight

because our Christian life is a matter of faith, not sight 2 Cor. 5:7. So put in the work, bring the little you have and TRUST God.
Let your faith be sure of things you hope for, let your faith be certain of the things you cannot see Hebrew 11:1&6

Know the word of God

Let the words of life define your worldview. In doing this, follow God's word that says...
``All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the *truth*, rebuking *error*, correcting *faults*, and giving *instructions* for right living. So that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed``
2 Tim. 3:16-17

The insight is that God speaks to us through the bible by teaching us the truth, rebuking our errors, correcting a fault or giving us an instruction
